For convenience, we call the piercing of the nostril , piercing nose .
The nose piercing is very old. We find written traces dating back more than 4,000 years in Genesis. It was originally practiced by the Berbers and Beja in Africa, and the Bedouins in the Middle East. It was imported from these regions in the 16th century to India and Pakistan by the Moghul emperors .
In these regions, nose piercing is commonly performed on the left because it is associated with Ayudevrain Indian medicine, that is to say to the female reproductive organs. It is believed to increase fertility and decrease the pain of pregnancy.
In the West, nose piercing saw its appearance in the late 60s with Hippies returning from India. Recovered by the Punk movement in the 1970s, he was one of the emblems of the rebelion against conservative values.
Location Of The Nose Piercing
The ideal location is in the “small hollow” located above the wing of the nose (anterior part of the cartilage of the septum of the nostril), following the circular groove starting at the base of the nose near the nostril. Indeed, if the entire wing of the nose can be pierced, the ideal location for the nose piercing is at the junction of three cartilages, which allows faster healing; not to mention aesthetics of course (it’s prettier in the small hollow>; o)). It is a very delicate part of the body. It is made up of three successive layers of skin, cartilage (which heals more slowly) and mucous membrane.
Nose Piercing Care
Nose healing lasts 6 to 8 weeks
Treatment frequency: twice a day for 15 days, then once a day
- Wash hands properly with soap and water, then dry with a clean towel
- Gently clean the outside of the piercing with a mild antibacterial soap by removing all residues (lymph concrements) with a compress or cotton swab, then rinse with lukewarm water and dry
- Apply a little physiological serum inside and outside by gently moving the jewel, then dry
- Apply a little antiseptic solution to the outside of the piercing and let it dry, only the first 15 days and protect your eyes
These treatments are of course to be carried out above the closed sink. Do not use products that do not have the same composition as those recommended. Do not do more or less cleanings than recommended, you will delay healing. In fact, too many cleanings prevent proper healing.
